Art-deco inspired lighting for your home and interior

Welcome to an exploration of Art Deco influences through the lens of our lighting designers and glassmakers. From bewitching high ceiling lights to quirky deco wall fittings, we spotlight one of the most defining epochs in designer history.

Art Deco dominated the playful period of the late 1920’s and the whole of the 1930’s with Hollywood-style glamour, bold geometric patterns, iconic motifs and fine craftsmanship.

In a time of ‘Great Gatsby’ parties, ‘Chicago’ theatrics, high-flyers and total decadence; opulent glass chandeliers, show-stopping pendant lights and wall lamps were installed to ‘wow’ and make a long-lasting impression. Nowadays the underlying sentiment is still true but in a much more subtle way. We want impactful design without being too showy, we strive for designs that integrate beautifully into existing schemes and palettes, whilst still commanding focus.

As lighting lovers, designers and glassmakers who value atmosphere above all else, we mostly yearn to be transported back in time to a state of nostalgia and what better era to preserve through light and creation, than this one?

Geometric, Playful Fittings

– Wall Lights and lamps

With a time period famous for placing emphasis on pleasing geometrical silhouettes, curves, distinctive edges and curls, we looked to create bolder, organic shapes that gained their individuality from their defining angles and charming presence. These attributes led to a selection of deco-style conscious wall lights and lamps being drawn up, finalised and glass-blown and one of the most unique concepts to come to light was the Piccadilly Sealed Wall Light

As trendy as it is unusual, this fabulous wall light contrives soft, dewy illumination and a cool, mellow ambience. A striking bathroom, kitchen or hallway wall addition, that would complement both classic and modern interiors.

In a curvier rendition, the Pimlico Duo Deco Sealed Wall Light V2 delivers a unique blend of bold appeal and Art Deco finesse, brandishing a dual handblown glass globe tucked in by brass hand-finished mount.

Both wall light fittings are IP44-Rated, highly suitable for bathrooms, kitchens – any space where wet conditions may be present. For all our wall hung fittings and fixtures please click here.

Fluted Glass pendant lighting &

Glamorous Aesthetic

A recurring feature throughout the Art Deco period and thought to have made a sudden comeback is handmade fluted glass. Luxurious finishes and fine craftsmanship often went hand in hand with status and wealth, so the use of handblown fluted glass along with stone, brass and other elegant materials were a popular choice amongst decoration and fittings.

A product that encapsulates both beauty and simplicity, is our popular Temple Pendant Light. An elegant mix of fluted glass architecture and contemporary design, this pendant light provides awe-inspiring luminosity and instant enhancement to kitchens, stairwells and other living environments.

Love the style, but want to change the fitting? Discover the whole Temple lighting range here.

An exemplary display of vintage timelessness, the Swanley Pendant Light pays homage to the elegance and glamour that the first half of the 20th century so readily embraced. Refined neckline? Check. Luxurious craftsmanship? Check. Traditional, yet timeless? Check! The Swanley Pendant Light showcases a dainty, angelic silhouette adding a romantic, art-deco twist to wherever its elevated.

We especially adore this lighting fixture in a linear revamp for modern, classic or traditional kitchen islands, tables and dining rooms, due to its intimate ambience and detail.

On the lookout for a standalone pendant light? This one has the power to attract and provide warm, statement illumination for your traditional sitting rooms, office nooks and hallways all by itself.

High Stairwell Lights &

Grand Chandeliers

Bespoke chandelier lighting was and still is very much a symbol of ornate style and grandeur. Back in the roaring 20’s/30’s they embodied wealth and elegance but today we like to think of cluster chandeliers and grand high ceiling lights as a vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to dressing your stairwells, entrance foyers and hallways. There are fewer scenes as enchanting as a handblown chandelier cascading soft nostalgic light across the floors of your home.
