Bespoke lighting with Style Sister Charlotte

Lighting Project Recap with Charlotte Reddington-Smith over in Epping, Essex.

When renovating and decorating other people’s homes there needs to be a palpable degree of understanding between client and interior designer and when it comes to bespoke lighting, the same rules apply. In creating a signature light, our lighting designers assess several components i) does the piece complement every faucet of the designated space and reflect the client’s style ii) are they crafting mindfully; ensuring the design can co-exist with the natural light inside the home and other key features iii) is the ambience and level of light complementary to the scheme and to those regularly occupying the space.

With the client being an organisation guru, interior influencer and one half of the iconic duo the ‘style sisters‘ it didn’t come as a surprise her home (featured on her personal home renovation page @buildandstyle) embodied peak styling. Modern and minimal, yet bold and packed full of personality, the lighting had to capture the spirit of her home and it was fortunate Charlotte had a suitable design of ours in mind to begin her bespoke journey with.

Tasked with creating both a custom ceiling light for the dining room and an additional set of unique, bespoke wall lights for her en-suite bathroom, the design team started with models and conceptualising ahead of production.

Project one : dining area lighting

The sleek, dynamic Temple Rod Pendant Light in a futuristic kitchen scheme.

From conception the Temple Rod Pendant Light was a frontrunner for the client – what with its minimalist aesthetic and sophisticated illumination, the team were in complete unity. Extensive 3D models were shared ahead of production; outlining scale, length and the general elevation of the light over the dining space.

Once approved by the client, the design was sent over to our production quarter, where our glassblowers and technicians began the next stage of the process – glassblowing and sculpting to specifications.

Project one: Temple Rod Cluster

Open plan dining project, complete with our Temple Rod Pendant Light @buildandstyle

As seen above, the completed project exudes a level of understated elegance. Paired with the distinctive shades and furnishings, there’s a harmonious contrast of sleek and minimal handblown glass ceiling luminosity upon a bold dining landscape of chic chairs and a bespoke dining table.

The Temple Rod Pendant has the natural ability of drawing people in and creating a central meeting point. With its sheer magnitude and undeniably sleek silhouette, the design acts as a beacon, effortlessly coaxing people in to sit, host and dine beneath.

There is endless potential to be found in this instance, that even with modified decor, or renovations, the versatility of the Temple will allow the light longevity and easy integration, regardless of its surroundings.

Project 2: Bathroom En-Suite Lighting

The highly customisable Temple Pillar Light, in sizes small and medium.

The second project was in keeping with the Temple collection, promoting both flow and consistency.

A blend of modern, contemporary lighting; the Temple Pillar Light consists of an original dual shade of combined clear and ribbed glass for a truly distinctive style. This particular wall light delivers unique ribbed illumination through its hand-blown glass shade; an impeccable addition to any hallway, kitchen or on this occasion; en-suite.

Designed to partner beautifully with the bathroom en-suite’s mirror and basin, the Temple Pillar Lights were adjusted and handblown accordingly, ensuring equilibrium between all elements.

The final completion inside Charlotte’s en-suite spoke of exquisite symmetry and lovely wall appeal. Detailed, fluted glass presented a layered, textural finish, and gold hand-plated brass mounts added a personalised vibe that brought character into the mix.

Our Temple Pillar Lights are highly adjustable with customisable lengths of up to 2.5, various profile options and custom hand-plated mounts.
