two | height of hanging lights

On average we usually advise 30-36 inches/76-91cm between the top of your kitchen island or counter and bottom of your pendant light to ensure the ideal amount of space between both elements, though this guideline can vary depending on the size of your shade. Cosy low ceilings can benefit from ceiling flush mounts and certain pendant lights due to their space-saving dimensions. Higher ceilings are far better suited to clusters and chandeliers but for kitchens our most popular arrangement remains the linear arrangement. See them all here.

three | number of ceiling lights

The ‘rule of three’ can be very useful guideline when it comes to a kitchen island or counter that can accommodate that number. Three pendant lights in a linear arrangement can often be a the winning formula, as it grants a measure of balance and symmetry. Depending on the length of your island and shape, you however may require either a statement standalone ceiling light, a duo, trio or even higher numbers.

Our designers through our bespoke service often calculate and make recommendations and with the support of 2D/3D renders can show you the full concept, providing greater clarity on the final design.
